Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
Verses 37-39Verses 40-42

A new window of discussion about Monotheism and Resurrection Day has been opened which gives a good instance of calling other people to God. (NO.33).

It begins with wonderful signs of God among which the night and day and the sun and moon have been mentioned.

Day and night are among the great blessings of God that are bestowed on man and other creatures; yet, Darkness and night are no less important in their life! Day promotes activity, while the night will bring rest and repose.

Therefore the phenomena like night and day, sun and moon, are created by God as instruments for His creature's life. So, only the Creator of the sun and moon and other planets deserves to be worshipped, and the creatures never. Man should make use of them, and give thanks to his Beneficent Lord, for creating them so useful. It is true that the sun and the moon have a wide variety of uses and profits for mankind and all creatures; but this doesn't prove that the inanimate celestial bodies, or other useful planets or creature, are gods; and they have to be worshipped. If we really mean to worship the God of truth, why don't we worship him who has created the sun, moon earth, and all the living creatures, and the whole universe!?

``...Prostrate yourselves only before Allah, Who has created them if you are to worship the true God, and the only truth.''

If we become arrogantly proud and disdain the worship of the real Creator of all things and all creatures, no harm is done to Allah.

Every particle or, every celestial body celebrate the praise of God and glorify Him. But even if all of them rebel and renounce the authority of God, it does not in any way affect Him. It only ends to Man's own los and perdition.

Then the reference is to another sign of God:- The phenomenon of life and death which in the case of a farmland occurs by rain and drought.

In other word Man's heart is similar to a farnland. Evil deeds will make it barren and fruitless, as a drought may render a land infertile. Evil deed kills beauty, love, Mercy and ruins all kinds of fruitfulness in Man's heart. On the other hand God's word in Man's heart is similar to rain that falls upon a piece of dry land. It gives the land a new life, and renders it active and producing.
