Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
Verses 20-21Verses 22-27

These two verses will sum up the story of the people of Shebä, who yielded to their caprices and vain desires, and eventually followed the Satanic Temptations:-

``And so did Iblis proved his surmise to be true about them. He was followed, except by party of the believers.''

When Satan did not prostrate himself by way of arrogance before Adam, and God gave him the sack; he asked God for a respite in reward of his worships in the past. When he made sure that he was granted the respite, he said:- ``My Lord! Now that you strayed me, I will bring Adam's descendants under my sway, and lead them all astray, but a few.''

This was now proved of Sheba's people. As a matter of fact, Satan has no power to force anyone to obey him. He invites. He tempts. He incites and persuades, and people follow him deliberately. Then they fall into Satan's trap which leads to the bottom of Hell.
