Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
Verses 8-11Verses 12-16

The Arab idolaters and in particular, their leaders found their unjust and unlawful privileges endangered by the prophet's doctrine in progress. In order to delude and disappoint common people, and to justify their opposition they resorted to some flimsy logic and reasoning, and accusing the prophet of various charges, like, being a liar, a sorcerer, a poet, and even mad!! Eventually with a taunting language, and scornful manner they said:-

``Has the Reminder (QURÄN) been sent to him from among us all!?''

So they must have considered the glorious Qurän as a worldly gift that should have been offered to one of the rich or influential chiefs. They couldn't understand that such a Divin entity needs excellent preparation to descend to the airport of a heart.

They had not a true standard, or right criterion to weigh the worths and values. They were sure of nothing and in doubt of everything:-

``They are rather in doubt of My Reminder, and yet they have not tasted the torment.''

What do these poor, forlorn creatures own of the limitless treasures of our Gracious Lord, who is Exalted in might? Or do they have any share of power in the kingdom of the heaven and earth?

For what a qualification do they think themselves to be qualified to receive God's revelation or Message?

Their problem was indeed very ridiculous! Who were they to question God for what He does or He does not!?

How dare of them to raise their heads against the Almighty God of the whole Creation?:-

``Is theirs the kingdom of the heavens and earth, and what is between them? If so, tell them to ascend by their equipment and prepartions.''

Then their fate and future has been foretold in the following short verse:-

``They are nothing more than a host routed there from among the parties.''

They were in fact a small group of the non-believers, who then became a part of a larger confederacy that were defeated in the battle of BADRE or MOAT. They could not frustrate God's purpose and were easily routed by the believing hosts of Allah.
