We now come to a series of seven Suras, which all of them begin with the abbreviated letters; HِM, pronounced HÄِMIM, and hence the other name, ``HAVÄِMIM'' for those seven successive chapters. They all were revealed in Mecca, and the general theme of the series is about the tenets of Islam; such as Monotheism, Prophethood, Resurrection Day, and God's Final Judgement.

      These seven chapters are also called the, ``crown'' of Qurän and the, ``flowers'' of Qurän.

      The second verse above refers to the grandeure and greatness of Qurän, which is a reading sent down from Allah, the All-knowing and the Exalted in might to all mankind, through Mohammad (SA), who is the last and the seal of God's prophets:

      ``The Forgiver of sin, the Acceptor of repentance, the Stern in punishment, the Bountiful...''

      God's knowledge and Mercy that have no limit encompasses all things, but there are also other attributes of Him which concerns mankind very much. He accepts repentance and forgives sin. He judges with Justice, and oppresses no one the least. On the other hand His punishment too is Stern and hard; and of course such severity is a kind of Mercy too, by which He controls transgressions and excesses in community.

      In the third verse above the immediate reference is to five other attributes of Allah which are very important concerning us. These are as follows:-

      1ِHe is the forgiver of our sins.

      2ِHe is the Acceptor of our repentance.

      3ِHe is Strict in punishing the oppressors.

      4ِHe is the Most Bountiful in Being, and whatever we see is a manifestation and display of His Blessings.

      5ِAnd to Him is the return of all the creatures and their affairs.

      From among the means of God's forgiveness we may name:- RepentanceِFaith and good deedsِPiety and virtueِ Emigrationِ MartyrdomِHidden charity and avoiding Major Sins.
