Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
Verses 17-21Verses 22-29

The immediate reference here is to the pride of Pharaoh and his stuborn Egyptian followers, and to their painful fate and fall. Moses said to Pharaoh:-

``Leave to me the charge of Allah's servants and worshippers, (i.e. the Israelites) and be not haughty and arrogant against Allah that He has sent me to you with a clear authority. I am a trustworthy Messenger of God to you.''

Moses was one of the most honourable of the Israelites, and an arch prophet of God. He was sent to the court of the Egyption's boastful king with clear signs, amazing miracles, and manifest authority; in order to take the charge of the children of Israel, and to lead them back to their promised land of Kanaan.

When they rejected Moses and his mission, and planned to get rid of him some how they failed, because a man of God has no fear; nor he grieves for loss or gain. They threatened to stone him and hatched a plot to slay him, but of no use. The prophet had sought a refuge in his lord:

``I seek refuge in my lord and your Lord, from your intention to store me.''
