Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 05)
Verses 6-8Verses 9-12

The foregoing argument is still continued here, and the prophet is told to say:-

``I am only a man as you are...''

Here, Mohammad (SA) our prophet has frankly said to his followers that he is a man from Mankind. In other word he is neither an angel, nor a god. He is only a Man elect of God, to convey His Message to His servants. The Message of God includes, warnings, and glad-tidings. God's servants should accept God's Unity and Oneness, and never associate anything or anyone, with Him. He has to stop sinning through repentance and to amend his deeds. He then has to ask for God's forgiveness and Blessings.

Those who reject God's Message and deny that there is any life after their death, are the most unfortunate ones, because salvation comes as a result of sincere faith and good deeds.

In the next verse the polytheists are presented to be those who do not believe in any kind of a future life; and secondly, they do not pay the alms-tax, the religious term of which is, ``ZAKÄT''.

``ZAKÄT'' is a commandment of God, incumbent upon muslims, to pay a fraction of certain properties, which are no more than the fingers of our hands in number, to the poor and needy. ZAKÄT is very essential to pay, and those who abstain from paying it, are counted among the infidels, and in line with those who deny the Resurrection Day.
