Justice is one of the attributes of God and is a justice that is evident everywhere in the universe. Its signs are evident in the heavens and on earth, in the existence of man, in the heartbeats, in the circulation of blood and in the entire universe.

“The heavens and the earth exist because of the balance of justice” (1)

Is it possible that man is like an out of place joint far from this perfect system of justice?

 The history of the world tells us that the oppressed never got complete justice in this world and never has a tyrant faced retribution. It may have taken place in part somewhere but was never implemented on a large scale.

The presence of a judge in this world’s court is but a reflection of the divine judge and it demands that there should be a day when the deeds of mankind should be examined minutely and that is the day we call the Day of Judgment.

With this brief introduction we draw the reader’s attention to the following verses of the Qura’n.

Verses 35-36 of Surah Qalam say:

“Shall We then treat the believers the same as sinners? 36. What is wrong with you? How do you judge?”

Verse 28 of Surah Saad says:

“Shall we treat those who do righteous deeds the same as those who do mischief on earth? Shall we treat those who guard against evil the same as those who are wicked?”

Verse 21 and 22 of Surah Jathiya:

“Do the evil doers believe that We will treat them equally to those who believed and did good deeds in life and in death? Their judgment is ill. 22. God created the heavens and the earth in truth, and every soul shall be rewarded for what it has earned and none of them shall be wronged.” (2)
