Many hadith tell us that the connection of the soul with this world is not totally severed after being transferred to purgatory but at times the soul keeps itself connected with this world.
In the 3rd volume of Kafi there is a chapter called “the dead come to meet their progeny”. The five hadiths mentioned in it tell us that the believers and the disbelievers too come to meet their living relatives.
Imam Sadiq said:
“When the souls of the believers see their relatives doing good and being happy they return contended but when the disbelieving souls see their relatives in sin and unease they feel said.”(1)
Those who experiment contacting the dead through scientific experiments says that the human souls do not become unconnected with this world but they keep themselves informed about this world and it is possible to contact them.
