Conclusion The Belief in resurrection in various eras

The issue of resurrection reverberates in the ancient cultures also. In the ancient time, before history was recorded there was a belief of life after death in many nations and their signs are visible today. There is no doubt that they did believe in a next world.

When we enter the period of recorded history we find that most nations despite their social and political wrangling did believe firmly in resurrection. But before we listen to the proven words of history we will turn to the Qura’n to see what it says about this issue.

The Qura’n has stated clearly that the issue of resurrection was discussed from the time immediately after Adam, even Mephistopheles has accepted it. The Apostles of God who came after Adam to the different nations for guidance also drew the attention of their people to the issue of resurrection . This life after death was known to all the nations that these apostles came to preach and guide.

But we cannot deny that this issue has been discussed in details in the sayings of the Last Messenger through the revelations that came to him. A great part of the Qura’n is dedicated to the issue of resurrection, its explanations and details.

Let us revert to the Qura’n with all our heart and read the following verses:

Verse 14 of Surah A’raf :

“ He said, “ Give me respite till the day they are raised.”

Verse 25 of Surah A’raf:

“ He said, “ Therein shall you live and therein shall you die but from it you shall be taken out.”

Verse 29 of Surah Maidah:

“ Verily I intend that you bear my sins and also your own, so you will be among the companions of the Fire, for it is the recompense of the unjust.”

Verse 35 of Surah Muminun:

“ Does he promise that when you die and become dust and bones you shall be brought back?”

Verses 87 and 88 of Surah Shuaraa:

“ And do not let me be disgraced on the day when men are raised; the day in which neither wealth nor sons will be of any help”

Verse 111 of Surah Baqarah:

“ And they say, “None shall enter Paradise unless he is a Jew or a Christian” Those are their vain desires. Say, “ Show us the proof  if you are Truthful”

Verse 33 of Surah Maryam:

“ And peace be upon me on the day I was born, the day I die, and the day I am raised to life again”

Verse 36 of Surah Ankabut:

“ To ( The people of) Madyana We sent their brother Shuaib. He said, “ O my people! Serve God and fear the last day.”

Verses 37 and 38 of Surah Yusuf:

“ I have abandoned the ways of a people who do not believe in God and deny the hereafter and I follow the ways of my fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”

Verse 68 of Surah Naml:

“ It is true we were promised this, we and our forefathers before us: these are nothing but the tales of the ancient.”
