Explanation of Verses The Punishment of the people of the pharaoh in purgatory

The same meaning is conveyed in the second verse but in another manner. The difference is that the background of the first verse is Badr and that of the second is Uhud but the verses both have a generality also.

The other difference is that the first verse is addressed to the Holy Messenger and the second is addressed to all the Muslims. It is said:

“And do not say about those who are killed in the way of God, “They are dead”. No, they are living but you perceive not.”

It is correct that the first verse attached to the following verse gives more stress to the life of the martyrs but the second verse too is complete especially when it says, “They are living but you do not perceive.”

Here again we meet the narrow minded people who have given symbolic and negative interpretations about the life of the martyrs. For them the life of the martyr is that he has received guidance and the existence of his religion or the life of his name though they have no proof for the same.

They it seems, have not reflected on the meanings of these two verses that speak of the martyrs and their sustenance, happiness and their receiving the various boons from God or that they exist without fear and without sadness especially when it says “ You do not perceive” their lives.

If the purpose is that their names and religion are preserved and the life of the Day of Judgment then none of these interpretations is correct.

This is why Qura’n has based its argument on the well being and eternal life of the soul and the discussion has started from the martyrs.
