The belief in the hereafter and contentmentDeath is a general law

Though is very terrifying for many people but in Islamic parlance and thought about this universe it is an issue with a completely different perspective because here death is considered to be a bridge or pathway and the fact is that is a second birth in reality.

The newly born infant screams his lungs out and feels insecure but he enters a world which is far larger than the world of his mother’s womb.

Crossing this doorway is not a source of future well being for everyone but only for those who have acquired enough rations to last this great journey. The sinners though they may believe in the hereafter will fear death and it will be no surprise.

The correct belief in death prepares a man for charity and sacrifice and gives him the strength for jihad. The fear of death cannot make him fall into the abyss of ignominy. It warns mankind about sins and is a great way of educating him.

Qura’n has dealt extensively on this subject and has described this event which will take place in every life without exception in details and has given very sound advice about it.

With this brief introduction we will first give attention to the event of death and read the following verses whole heartedly (We should pay attention to the fact that each verse deal with a unique angle about this issue).

Verse 185 of Surah Al Imran:

“Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full.”

Verse 42 of Surah Zumur:

“It is God that takes the souls (of men) at death; and those that did not die (He takes) during their sleep: those on whom He has passed the decree of death He holds back, but the rest He returns (to their bodies) for an appointed term.”

Verse 11 of Surah Sajdah:

“Say: “The Angel of Death put in charge of you will take your souls: then shall you be brought back to your lord”

Verse 28 of Surah Nahl:

“They (the sinners) are those lives that the angels take in a state where they wrong their own souls; then they submit “We did no evil knowingly” (The angels answer) “Yes but God knows all that you did.”

Verse 32 of Surah Nahl:

“They are those whose life the angels take in a state of purity telling them “Peace be upon you; enter the garden because of what you did.”

Verses 6 and 7 of Surah Jumua:

“O Messenger tell them, “O Jews! If you think that you are friends of God while others are not, then express your desire for death if you are truthful.”7. “But they will never express this desire because of the deeds their hands have sent before them. Gods knows well all who do wrong”

Verses 1 and 2 of Surah Mulk:

“ Blessed is He in whose hands is the dominion; and He has power over all things 2.He who created death and life, that he may try which one of you is best in deeds and He is mighty exalted and oft-forgiving.”

Verse 19 of Surah Qaf:

“And indeed the stupor of death will overcome; this was the thing that you were trying to escape.”

Verses 26 to 30 of Surah Qiyamah:

“Yes when the soul reaches the throat 27 they will be asked “who can cure him and save him from death? 28Man shall think that it is the parting 29 One leg will twist with another 30. You shall be driven to your lord on that Day.”

Verses 99 and 100 of Surah Muminun:

“When death comes to one of them he says, “O Lord! Send me back to the world! So that I may do the good deeds I had neglected.” (He will be answered) “No Way! For these are mere words that he utters”
