This term used for the Day of Judgment needs explanation. Verse 6 of Surah Mutaffifin says:
“The Day (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds.”
This standing denotes the finality of the issue, the presence in a great court and the examination of all deeds.
The point to be noted is that Qura’n has mentioned this in this ‘Surah to warn the lowly and says, “Do they not realize that they will be resurrected on that great Day?’ and then adds, “the Day when everyone will stand before the Lord of the worlds.”
Had they believed in such a Day they would not have taken the wrong path but the love for the world, negligence, pride and unending desires blanketed their hearts in darkness so that they do not pay heed to the truth?
The tradition tells us that a companion of the Messenger was reciting Surah Mutaffifin and when he reached this verse he cried so much that he could not continue his recitation. (1)
