Though the topics of the verses are similar to each other their explanations and meanings have differences that are notable.
The first verse is about the polytheists Arabs and says: “ And they say, “When we are bones and fragments should we really be resurrected (to be) a new creation?”
How is it possible the human flesh has turned into dust, the bones are scattered here and there and then it is all gathered and given a new life? Where is there a handful of dust and where a full fledged living human being?
The word “Rufat” is derived from “Raft” which means to be pounded to dust. Some people have taken it to mean rolling up also and some say Rufat’ means very minute and fine dust. This is the condition which the bones come to after hundred of years. Some take it to be the condition that is found after complete dilapidation. These explanations are very similar to each other. According to the tradition in Ruhul Ma’ani this explanation of it being dust, or something that has been heavily pounded and softened is the same.
