A. The Belief of the EgyptiansThe Sumerians

One of the developed ancient civilizations was that of Babel and we find from their relics that they too believed in life after death. According to some historians this was the reason why the constructed canopies on top of the graves. Though they did not mummify the bodies, they dressed them up in fine clothes, colored the cheeks and darkened the eyelashes.

They used to put rings on their fingers and if the dead were a woman they put perfumes, combs, powder and various oils etc in the graves so that she could use them to beautify herself in the hereafter. (1)
