HE WATCHES YOUR DEEDSYOUR JIHAD IS FOR HIM

The third verse speaks about hearing and knowing. It speaks about the oppressed who have been given the right to protest against the oppressors and describe their oppression. It says:

“God does not love the shouting of evil words publicly, except by one who has been wronged for God is He who hears and knows everything.”

What is the meaning of the term “shouting of evil words publicly”? Some commentators believe that it means the protest of the oppressed. Others feel that means public abuse and oppression. Some have taken it to meaning the filing of case in the court of the Qazi or the protest against tyranny in front of the people whether the oppressor is present or absent.

If we consider the command and the subject then we realize that permission has been granted to erase oppression and to publicly speak against the oppressor. It is pertinent that cursing the oppressor is only valid when the purpose is to destroy oppression. The term “God is He who hears and knows everything.”  Is to be ascertained for both the situation positive and negative or those who are not oppressed but are backbiting are being warned and the oppressed are being addressed that they should not cross the prescribed limit of decency and should keep justice in mind while they protest.

The point to be noted that “Hearing and seeing “has been used hear because the discussion is about the causes that result in bad things and bad intentions. The verse says, “God is He who hears and knows everything.” So the verse seems to mean that if some one calls a person an adulterer then it is permissible that the addressed may use the same accusation in return but this idea is wrong because it is imperative that the protest should be made against the oppression of the oppressor to prove a truth not that the oppressed should start oppression. The oppression should be destroyed through “Nahi A monkir” and no that one wrong should be replied to with another wrong and let oppressor take birth.

Anyway the verse is proof that Islam does not say that you should remain silent against a tyrant in the way such falsehood has been attributed to Hazrat Isa “ If anyone smack your right cheek then you should present the left one” for him to smack.
