There have been great and profound debates in the Islamic traditions about these two attributes. To complete our discussion we now refer to one:

We read in One of Amirul Mumineen’s sermon that:

Every ear, but His is unable to hear the faintest of sound, is deafened by very harsh ones and physically unfit to detect the very distant one. No eye, but His, can discern palest shades of each color or can perceive shades of transparent objects. (1)

In another sermon Imam Ali says:

He hears but without the help of bodily organisms or any aid.

In one sermon he says:

He acts and works but the action or work does not require any movement or help of any body parts; He was seeing when there were no created things to see.

In one Hadith Imam Jafar Sadiq while replying to the question whether God was all-hearing and all-seeing said,

Yes He is all-hearing and all-seeing but He is not dependent on ears; He sees but does not need the eyes to see.”

Behar-ol-Anwar records that a person asked Imam Jafar Sadiq that one of His followers said God is all hearing through ears and all-seeing through eyes; He is learned through acquired knowledge and His all powerful through acquired power “On hearing this Imam said, “Whoever says and believes this is an idolater and he has no connection with our succession and our love. God is the entity who is sight personified, He is complete in hearing and seeing and these are not acquired attributes.” (3)
