EXPLANATIONS FROM MAFURADAT:ALL HIS DEEDS ARE UNDERLINEED WITH WISDOM

This is something good that in the last verses the attributes of God have been mentioned and they have a necessary connection with the meaning of this verse for good points emanate when we reflect on them. After drawing you attention to this we now turn to the explanation of the above verses.

The first verse speaks about those who practice the Islamic laws “Do well and restrain from evil”, the establish prayers, and give Zakat” and the rewards that they will be entitled to and then says, “For God is exalted in power; wise.” The origin of the word “Azeez” is “Izzah” which means not be subdued. It is used for hard land in which you cannot sow anything. So the terms ‘Azeez and Hakeem” are those attributes of God that denote His unlimited power and unlimited knowledge.

The strange fact is that these words have been used jointly many times in the Qura’n. Most probably they have been used in verse that speak explain the laws, the establishment of the Ministry of the prophets, and the revelation of the Qura’n. (like in verses 1, and 9, 209 and 228 of Surah Baqarah, verse 2 of Surah Jathiya and 2 of Surah Ahqaf)

This is also a hint that the explanation of the laws and the revelations of the Qura’n with all the needs of man and details have been duly and beautifully narrated because He is not only wise but is revered and has the authority. In other words the best laws are made by He who has the most knowledge and power and this is none else but God.

But some verses that end on “Azeez and Hakeem” mention the creation of heavens and the earth, the chanting of God’s praise by all that exists and the creation of the infant in the womb and other similar issues (like iron, Judgment Day as in verse 24 of Surah Al Imran). It is as if it not only speaks of the spiritual world but also the manifest one and both have become what they are because of the authority and power of God. This is an example of God’s “beautiful system”’.

In some wherein the Qura’n speaks about things like the deeds of God, the establishment of justice, the birth of Jesus, the victory of the believers in war, the true believer, the cleansing of the hearts, and other things have the words revered and wise in the end. (See Verses 18, 62 and 126 of Surah Al Imran and verse 63 of Surah Anfal)

It tells us that the fountain heads of God’s deeds, His supreme power and is unlimited knowledge is present every where. Rewards and punishments are mentioned in some places and the verses have ended in “Most revered and wise” (like Verse 18 of Surah Maidah)

This tells us that punishment and rewards are also according to the accounting and wisdom. God has the authority to give the best rewards to the believers as He has promised and the sinners will never have the capacity to escape His punishment.

Lastly the words are mentioned in those verses where the believers have been promised respite and comfort so that they may know that they are not alone in facing hardships like the words “ Whoever relies on God is successful” because He is revered and wise. It means that he knows the needs of those who rely upon Him and has the authority to support them (Verse 49 of Surah Anfal)

The précis is that no authority and reverence has any relevance in front of God’s authority and no one has the strength to oppose His will. There is nothing that He cannot do. He has the authority over the system of the universe, the system of the laws and the power to help those who befriend Him.

 Since He is wise he is aware of all the secrets of existence, the good and bad of every deed and the needs of His servants. It is because of these two attributes that this system of universe is so beautifully established.
