Human deeds are of three kinds:Justice and Islamic Traditions

After discussion the good and Bad we turn to the issue of God’s justice. We would now draw your attention to two main points because the rest of the proof will revert to them.

The First Proof:

Its origin is the same goodness and evil (that we have been discussing) Injustice is abhorrent and God never does something that is abhorrent. There is only reproof of the unjust and it is sure that no perfect person does any work that can subject him to reproof.

Justice is just the opposite and is the sign of the perfection of existence; an existence that is flawless and unblemished and such an entity will never for go this.

This is such a clear proof that it needs no further elaboration. Can some one say that God will throw the apostles, the saints, and the devout into hell and allow the wicked and evil to enter Paradise? Such an opinion can be formed by the mentally retarded who deny the truth or those who are disconcerted because of some problems (like the issue of compulsion and freedom) and has no means to solve it and they just deny the truth of such issues.

The Second Proof

When we analyze we find that there can be only a few causes for injustice.

Injustice is caused by the human need and instead of fulfilling the needs through the right path a person takes recourse to usurp the rights of others.

The causes of injustices are ignorance, naivety and paucity of knowledge. The unjust does not really know what he is doing and what he is doing against the situation.

The fountainhead of injustice are vanity and greedy and lustful desires. The unjust wants to fulfill his own desires and needs even by usurping the rights of others so that he may satisfy his pride and ego.

At times the cause of injustice is weakness. When he fails to achieve what he wants he does not forbear but reaches out to injustice.

There are times when the cause of injustice is revenge and jealousy. He wants to atone the injustice done to him through revenge.

Sometimes injustice result only from jealousy. A jealous person has nothing of his own but is jealous of others having a better life so he decides to grab all what the other has.

These are the causes and the reason that denote the deficiency, depravity and mental ill health of the unjust person.

How can we even imagine that injustice can come from God when he is above all needs, there is no ignorance or naivety, no weakness, no possibility of pride and vanity, no jealousy and no need for revenge. There is no one more elevated than Him to make him jealous of other’s position, and no one has the power to usurp His glory so that it may become the cause of revenge. Can we ever think of anything but welfare, well being and kindness from Him?

If he punishes the wrong doers then it is the result of their deeds not that He needs to punish them. The sins of the sinners do not tarnish His image.

The important point here is that the Qura’n is asking the humans to judge by their own intellect. It is against the stand of the Asharis who say that only Shariah can decide about the good and the bad and there is no scope for human realization and intellect.

The Book says:

“Shall we then treat the people who believe like the people who do not? What is the matter with you and how do you judge?”

We should remember that Qura’n says this after discussing the rewards of the righteous and this tells us that the book gives great importance to the human intellect about the issue of the good and the bad. It judges injustice as bad and justice as good through their implementation.
