PHILOSOPHY AND GOD THE EVER LIVING AND ETERNAL.THE ANSWER TO A QUESTION

This has been stressed upon in many sermons recorded in the Nahjul Balagha; here are a few examples:

Sermon 163 says, “There is no beginning to His entity and no end to it (He is beyond time).

Sermon 185 says, “He obtains witnesses for His authority from the creations.”

He is one and unique without being counted and numbered.

Ion the chapter on the names of God in Usul Kafi Imam Sadiq is recorded to have said

“He is the first and His oneness is before everything; He is the last for He live after everything. There can be no change in his names and attributes as is the case with others that are changed.” (1)

In another Hadith too Imam Sadiq speaks about the first and the last: “He is first, and no one can be before him. He was always living and will live forever. He has no beginning and no end. (2)
