The most prominent sign of God in this universe is the phenomenon of life. The living creatures are the strange and complex signs of His greatness.

This is why in the discussion about his oneness the Qura’n has repeatedly mentioned life and existence and has declared God to be the One who raises the dead. This word Mohiyee has not been used more than twice in the Qura’n.

The verse 50 of Surah Rom says:

“He gives life to the earth after it has died; verily He is the giver of life to the dead; He has power over all things.”

As you have seen this resurrection of the dead is on the Judgment Day but the word “Mohiyee” in the various verses of the Qura’n means life and death, and includes vegetation, animals and humans. This has often been pointed out and is one of the most important attributes of God.

 

 

1. Surah Fussilat verse 39. It too speaks about the resurrection of the dead.
