There is no doubt that one side of God’s attribute is belief and this is necessary for the recognition of God. But this has an educating effect on human souls which we should never overlook. The purpose of Qura’n in mentioning these attributes is education also.

When accept the entity of God to be perfect in every sense and declare Him to be the center of our hopes and when we try our best for His closeness by practicing all His commandments then it is clear and can be said with certainty that if you want to be successful then you have to adopt His beautiful and commanding attributes so that its rays can be seen in our lives and we can adopt them.

It can also be said that we become the reflection of His names and attributes and instill the colors of God in us so that our souls and lives can mirror His attributes with all their beauty and glory.

We should adopt his attributes of knowledge and authority, determination and purpose, management and lordship, beneficence and kindness in such a way that some reflection can be seen in us. We find very subtle hints about this education in the Islamic traditions. In one such book (Tambeehol Khatir) a collection of Daram Abi Faras the Messenger is recorded to have said:

God has made the attributes of culture and education as a medium of unity between His subjects. It is enough for you to be connected to good deeds so that you get connected with Him (adopt anyone of His attributes within yourselves.) (1)

There is another very famous Hadith from the Holy Messenger:

Instill God’s goodness in yourselves. (2)
