CRITICISM Introduction

This supposition has similarities with the first supposition of the ancients because it too is dependent on proof, certification and testimony and the origin is what we have already discussed. Their conjecture is about an issue that is beyond our powers and this is something impossible which cannot be solved by any thinker.

We admit the paucity of our knowledge so we should also admit that he Prophets are connected with the realm of the extra-ordinary and it cannot be explained or detailed through our senses and common observations.

This is one of the issues about God that are impossible for us and we mention a few hereunder:

1. Revelation is a special connection with the realm of the extra-ordinary and it is above the intellectual capacity of all humans.

The origin of the revelation is due to the eminence of the prophet and their spiritual perfection. The revelation does not exist because of the spiritual presence which is beyond our normal existence and it is connected only with the harbinger of the messages or the angels of God it exists because of inner awareness and unison is due to the active intelligence which leaves it imprint on all thoughts. The apostle sees and hears it as a revelation.

There is no doubt that such analysis in a sense are not what he prophet has brought with him and are not contained in the verses of the Qura’n. In another sense it is also not connected with the intellectual prowess that we have mentioned earlier.

All these suppositions depend on testimonies and proofs and are sometimes evolved from the strange ideas of the Ulema who have gone to the extent of describing the mysteries of the universe in the same manner. It is like some incompetent person describing the intricacies of the computer, airplanes and satellites through his scanty knowledge. Can we reach the right conclusion in this manner?

The compiler of the Tafsir al Minar after citing the ideas of a group of modern philosophers as we have mentioned above has added his own words:

“The secret of the doubt that disturbs the Muslims because they have followed the materialists blindly or thought the commentaries of such people to be sufficient. This is the reason why they have presented such thoughts to supplement their explanations and details. (2)

We have now reached the end of the discussion about the problem of revelation. We have already said that we have discussed this issue in details in the first volume of Nafahatol Qura’n.

The discussion on “Masadirul Ma’arfat” is in the 5th volume.
