The knowledge of the speech of the birds1. MIRACLES

There is no doubt that no claim can be accepted without proof especially the lofty claim of being a Prophet of God This is especially so about those who falsely claimed to be the representatives of God and the guidance of mankind but all they did was to mislead the ignorant. They said that they were the Messengers from God and they have come to lead mankind to their ultimate end; they said that they were the keepers of God’s laws and thus they are able to attract some ignorant people.

It is therefore necessary to take the help of the proofs and differentiate between those charlatans and the real apostles of God. We find four methods of doing this when we study the subject deeply.

 1. “Miracles” are those events that are above explanations and are extra-ordinary in nature and also beyond the capacity of mankind even those who claim to be prophets.

2. The confirmation of the ministry and the enjoinment of the apostles of God. The scrutiny of their claims that can be the proof of their truth and this method is acceptable to most Ulema for most of them accept the existence of miracles.

 3. The collection of their systems that prove the claims of prophethood and what has passed before them, their ways and encompassment and those who believe in them. This is their way of enjoinment and preaching as far as they are concerned.

It is found that certain factors, events and proofs about the belief in an apostle are readily accepted without further supplements.

 4. When we take the certification of the previous prophets to be true about their truthfulness and piety or in other words when a prophet certifies another then this certification will be taken as proof and help the establishment of his ministry.

It is true that no claim can be accepted without proof. The Qura’n has repeatedly criticized those who make such claims and those who follow such claimants without knowledge and proof. Such people will definitely be subjected to severe punishment. According to some philosophers those who accept any such claims without proof do not merit to be called humans.”

This how the Qura’n has described people who follow their own conjectures and greed without knowledge and proof for they are among the worst wayward people. In verse 50 of Surah Qassas God says:

“And who is more astray than the one who follows his own lust devoid of guidance from God?”

In other places like in verse 111 of Surah Baqarah and verse 64 of Surah Naml the Book says:

“Give your proof if you are truthful.” And “Bring your proof if you are telling the truth!”

In verse 36 of Surah Isra the book says:

“And do not pursue that about which you have no knowledge for surely the hearing, the sight and the heart shall all be questioned.”

The book finally says that those who claim or follow things without proof oppress themselves. In verse 144 of Surah Anam the book says:

“And who is more wrong than the one who invents a lie against God to lead men astray without knowledge?”

After this brief introduction we will now discuss these four methods and we begin with the issue of “E’jaaz” or miracles.
