COMMENTS - VERSE NO. 187

      ``They ask you about the Hour, when is its happening? Say: ``Its knowledge is only with my Lord, and no one can reveal its proper time.''

      Some people may ask, why the knowledge of the hour is hidden from man?

      If the exact time appointed for it was known; had it been near, it would disturb man's thought and life, just as if his hour of death was known to him. If it was far away, man would ignore it and pay no heed to it, and his own end, and would consider himself free to do anything he wanted. Now that man does not know when is it coming, and knows that it comes, of a sudden; he may take care and stand on watch, and might be on the alert by avoiding evil deeds.
