As the obstinacy of the Jew and the stubornness of the polytheists were as clear as the daylight, and it was sure that they would continue their blasphemy, the next verse implies: ``So if they belied you in spite of all that evidences you presented; then tell them that your Lord Has a vast and extensive Mercy, but if you continue with your disbelief and misuses, you should know that God's punishment is not turned away from the sinner people.'' This verse may show the greatness of Quran to some extent, on account of its teachings, that; in spite of their so much evil deeds, Quran does not cut them away at once! It rather holds them in a state of hope and fear. It first makes a mention of God's infinite Mercy, and then adds that He may have a severe punishment beyond His vast Mercy and Forgiveness!
