This verse is about the destiny of the polytheists in the Resurrection Day; to make clear that they have relied upon a weak and inanimate creature, like the idols that are eventually reduced to nothing. In that dreadful day of fate and destiny, the polytheists, and in particular, the idolaters are asked ironically: ``Where are your supposed partners that you ascribed them as co-sharers to God!? Why don't they come to your help now? Why no effect and no reaction of them is seen here?'' VERSE NO. 22
