These verses points to some general principles that rule most of the events which ocurring in man's life. The more people are at ease and affluence, the less will they have a hearing ear for the word of truth, and a heart to apprehend. On the other hand when they fall in hardship and distress they begin to lament and pray to God for help, and hence the verse: ``We did not send any prophet in a town; but that We took up its people in suffering and adversity, in order that they may learn humility.'' When such warnings do not produce any effect in turning man away from sinful life and inequities, and neither hardship nor affluence will teach them the necessary lesson that they should learn; God will give them more ropes to hang themselves. This is when: ``Adversity will give its place to good fortune once again.'' They will also get an increase in everything; so much so that it drowns them in the whirlpool of arrogance and insensibility to God's mercy and kindness. They then forge a false idea to preach it; `that adversity and prosperity are alike, as a matter of natural phenomena.' They happen in the life of all men and in all ages. They say: ``Our fathers too, were afflicted with such hardships and ease, and these are the natural ups and downs of our life! One day is for us, and another day is against us, and thus goes the world for all times.'' When they thought so: ``We suddenly seized them while they were in negligence and unawareness! IF WARNINGS DO NOT AFFECT (VERSES NO. 94 - 95)
