The primary reactions of Pharaoh and his courtiers are revealed here, when Moses displayed the two miracles of serpent and white hand, which had the desired effect on Pharaoh and his council. They were all impressed by the skill of Moses (as they said) in the sorcery and magic. In their spiritual panic, they could have easily killed him or somehow get rid of him, but doing that in haste and hurry, to a man who was well known in the court from childhood, would serve to increase his fame and reputation. So they decided to delay the matter and postpone it to think how could they defame him first, and then hang him! In their consultation meeting, they all admitted that Moses was an expert magician and skilled sorcerer; who had come to drive them out of their country. Or even if they knew him to be truthful and trustworthy from old, when he lived in that court; they did accuse him of that for knowing that he wanted to give an end to the Egyptain oppressions. So they said: ``This is a skilled sorcerer who wants to drive us out from our land. We have better summon our most powerful magicians from all over the country, and in the meantime hold Moses and his brother Aaron in suspense.'' THE CONTEST BEGINS (VERSES NO. 109 - 112)
