      The immediate reference here is to some people who dispute about truth, and particularly about Allah without having the necessary knowledge. They jump from one branch upon another, without a definite object. They sometimes dispute about Monotheism, and sometimes show their doubt in God's power, to raise the dead; without giving any reason.

      Some of the commentators have narrated that the above verses revealed about a heathen called NAZR-IBN-HARITHA. He always insisted upon his assertion that the angels are the daughters of God, and QURÄN consists of the ancient tales which have been connected to God. He rejected the life after death.

      However, the verses may be taken as general for all those who blindly follow superstitions, and their caprices, and false gods. They are accustomed to dispute about the truth, without the knowledge of any kind. They befriend Satan which is a rebel in God's kingdom, and do not consider the fact that Satan will lead them astray and guides them to Hell.
