Most of the chapter twenty, was about Moses and the Israelites, and from here; the rest of the verses are about Adam and Eve, and the Satanic Temptations and enmity with them. Here it proves that the conflict between right and wrong, truth and falsehood has existed ever since Man came into being. We read passages on the said challenge in many places in Qurän, but each narration is a certain part of the whole story, and from various points of views.

      This passage now under discussion, begins with the covenant that God had made with Adam, in which Adam failed:ِ

      ``And verily We made a covenant with Adam from before, but he forgot, and We found him not decisive.''

      The covenant here is said to have been God's prohibition of approaching that unlawful fruit. This prohibition, Adam forgot!

      Adam was clearly warned that Satan was an avowed enemy of him and his wife, and yet he was tempted and disobeyed his Lord for the lack of decisiveness.

      He was not firm enough, and rushed so easily into the arms of Satan, which was his own destruction; for a false promise of an eternal life and kingdom, that Satan suggested!

      As a matter of fact, Adam and Eve had been created to live upon the earth, and to act as God's vicegerent here to excercise delegated power. They were settled in that Garden of Bliss, wherever it was, temporarily and for the time being, in order to be prepared for their ultimate assignment here on the earth. Therefore, forbidding them of the fruit of a certain tree was some sort of a guidance to comfort and prosperity, not to fall in trouble and hardship.

      All that Adam and Eve needed, were prepared for them in that Garden. Unfortunately, their sense of inquiry helped to allure them and put them out of that blissful place.

      In that Garden, they would neither become hungry nor nude. In it they would not remain, thirsty as Qurän says, nor had they to suffer the sunshine. But when they were discharged from there, they had to pick up a shovel and pick, to get out their food from the soil!

      In spite of all the respect and reverence that was bestowed on Adam and Eve, Satan decided to seduce them, and he did that easily!:ِ

      ``He said; O, Adam! Shall I lead you to the Tree of Eternity, and a kingdom that will never perish?''

      In his suggestion, Satan had considered the needs and necessities that Adam and his wife could then feel it, and that was the eternity of their existing felicity and enjoyments. On the other hand, God had said to them; avoiding Satanic Temptations would serve to bring them an everlasting prosperity.

      So, Satan in his allurement pointed to the same thing, and made use of the desire for an everlasting prosperity by promising Adam and Eve, an eternal life and kingdom.

      At last, that which should not have happened, did happen, and Adam disobeyed his Lord and was strayed. He and his wife ate of the forbidden fruit which caused their fall!

      So far, they were clothed in the clothes of innocence and knew nothing of evil and vice, but their disobedience to God, torn off their garment of innocence and soiled them to foul, and soon after their privy parts appeared to them nude and ugly, and they tried to cover their shame somehow by the leaves that they could find in the Garden! But they still had a Merciful, All-forgiving Lord, and where there is God, there is everything.
