Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 04)
Verses 113-114Verses 115-122

The immediate reference here is to the Holy Qurän and its wonderful eloquency; through which everything that Man may need has been explained:ِ

``And so did We send it down as an expressive Arabic Qurän, and explained therein some promises....''

The Glorious Qurän is so expressive and perspicuous that even the layman, and the unlearned people may learn and profit by listening to its verses. Its nature of teaching is so that, it goes up and down in relation to the height and depth of people's understanding and knowledge, so much so that the most learned and the unlearned, can both profit by it.

The verses of Qurän are so deep in meanings, that their various shades of meanings and purposes may gradually and in time unfold and reveal themselves to an individual or a nation!

The ending of the verse (NO.113) implies that one of the main objects of the Book, is to cause people to avoid evil. In other word to make them repent and return to the straight way of truth, or at least lead them to be mindful and to make use of their brain and other faculties:ِ

``Perhaps they avoid evil, or cause them to be mindful.''

In the second verse (NO.114), we are informed that, Allah is high above everything and everyone, and He is the only real king, and the true owner of whatever there exist in the universe. The ending of the verse is:ِ

``Say:ِ My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.''

Man should never say that he has learned enough or all that is needed; he should rather always pray for more and more knowledge.

AVICENNA (IBNِSINA) the great Persian scholar has said:ِ

``My knowledge has reached to that height, that now I know that I know not.''

In the sight of Islam, saying that, one has completed studies; has no room, and a Muslim must study and search for knowledge from cradle to grave. There is no limited space, time, or border and bound, for learning. When necessary; a Muslim should go even to China, to increase his knowledge or to complete a study.

In SAFINATOL BOHÄRِV.2ِP.219; it is cited that our prophet said:ِ

``The most learned one among a people is he who adds the knowledge of others to his own knowledge, and the highest of people in value, is the highest of them in learning, and the lowest of them in learning is the lowest of them in value.''
