THE PUNISHMENT FOR ADULTERY VERSE NO.1ِ3 Verses 4-5

      Here the adulteress precedes the adulterer in the issue; but in
S 5:41 where the decree is issued for thieves, the male thief is mentioned before the female thief:ِ

      ``And as to the male thief, and the female thief, cut their hands as a retribution of what they have earned.'' (S 5:41)

      This may imply that in the sexual affairs the role of the fair sex is much more critical due to her temptations and attractions; in theft men play a higher role and are more effective than women.
