In some books we find that people take this “permanent stay” in Hell to be collective and not individual. It means that the all the disbelieving nations will remain forever in Hell but individual will change so each one of them will stay in the fire for a limited period. Since they will be changing places the stay in Hell for mankind will be eternal.

This means that in the future there will be another nations and some of whom will take to disbelief and land ultimately in Hell but they will enter it only after others before them will have attained freedom from it. (1)

This idea too is not compatible with the verses about the eternal punishment of the disbelievers and we can understand this disparity by studying the previous verses because the verses literally speak about the individual incarcerations. The causes for such interpretations have been explained earlier and that is when they could not solve the mystery of the eternal damnation they resorted to such explanations.
