Non-payment of ZakatUsury

Confiscating any one’s wealth without valid Sharia reasons is banned and it is given a great stress so far as the wealth of the orphans is concerned because they are in great need, without a guardian, weak and unable to defend their rights. The Qura’n has threatened those who usurp the rights and wealth of the orphans with Hell.

Verse 10 of Surah Nisaa says:

“Those who usurp the wealth of the orphans only fill their bellies with fire and they will be burnt in the blazing fire.”

There is a hadith from the Messenger of Islam who said:

“The worst food is eating the orphan’s sustenance unjustly.”(1)

Is the statement of the Qura’n that those who usurp the wealth of the orphans eat the fire of hell, a symbolical statement or can it be taken literally? This statement tells us that our deeds have an overt as well as a covert countenance which is unseen in this world and will manifest on the Judgment Day. This is the base of the idea that all deeds will manifest as bodies. It will not be unrealistic to take the verse literally. (Reflect)
