Disobeying God and dividing the MuslimsInjustice and Repression

Though ridiculing the words of God is disbelief and the cause of going to Hell, Qura’n has mentioned it specifically and named it as a salient reason for going to Hell. Verse 106 of Surah Kahf says:

“Hell is their reward for they rejected faith and took My signs and My Messenger as fun.” (1)

The truth is ridiculed because of ignorance, animosity, bias, arrogance etc and each of these is a gate of Hell. It will not be surprising if the final place of those who make fun is the deepest abyss of Hell because they mostly made fund of the apostles and saints of God.

Those who do not use their intelligence, eyes, and ears.

Another group that certainly deserves to be in Hell consists of those who close the doors of enlightenment upon themselves. They refuse to use their intelligence, shut their eyes and close their years so that they do not hear the truth or see its beauty. They do not want to use their minds about things that establish awareness and sanity. Verse 179 of Surah A’raf says:

“Numerous are the Jinns and men we have created for Hell; they have hearts but they do not understand; they have eyes with which they do not see and ears with which they do not hear. They are like cattle, no, they are most misguided for they are heedless.”

It should be clear that this “creation” is not a compulsion as Fakhr Razi and those who support compulsion use it to prove their point. Using this verse to do so is futile because it contains the answers as well. The verse says that they have been given all the means of enlightenment (The brain for intelligence, the eyes to see the truth and the ears to hear it.) But they do not use them for their own benefits. (Reflect)

This is why the verse that they have lowered themselves to the category of beasts or even lower because the latter do not have the means of intelligence or the capacity. They are more misguided than the beasts because they have the means but refuse to benefit from them. The core of all this waywardness is ignorance and the verse rightly says, “for they are heedless”

A similar meaning can be found in verse 10 of Surah Mulk that says: “And they will say, “Had we but listened and used our intelligence, we would not have been the ones among the blazing fires”

Actually the mother of all waywardness is the ill use of mind, eyes and ears and not rightfully used for benefits and spiritual enhancement. It is not that God has not bestowed these things on them but they do not desire to use them.

Following the Satan:

One of the deeds that merit the wrath of God is the obedience and complete submission to Satan. Verse 18 of Surah A’raf says:

“(Satan was told) “Get out from Paradise, disgraced and expelled. I will fill the Hell with all those who follow you.”

Though the verse mentions Mephistopheles the head of all devils but we know that the ways of his followers are the same everywhere. Following the satanic Jinns and men is actually following the Satan. The end result for this is Hell.

False promises, temptations to sin, refusal to do well, denial of the truth and carnal lust are beautified for his followers to take them away from God and they earn His wrath as a result. (2)

Vanity and Rebellion.

Vanity whether it is against God, His creations or the truth is one of the causes for falling into the fires of Hell. Pride is the fountainhead of many sins and injustice. It is like vanity for it too takes a person to the wrath of God and Hell.

The verse 60 of Surah Zumar says:

“Is there not in Hell an abode for the arrogant?’

Verse 36 of Surah A’raf says:

“Those who reject Our signs and treat them with disdain are the dwellers of Hell where they will live for ever.”(3)

The same meaning has been conveyed in the other verses of the Qura’n and verses 15 and 16 of Surah Ibrahim say:

“But they sought victory and help and every obstinate dictator was brought to complete destruction. 16. The hell is after him and he will be made to drink the boiling and festering water.”

The word “Jabbaar” has many meanings and one is authority over others but this term is at times used for God’s sole authority. It is also used for the super power but unjust authority of the tyrants over society. According to Lisan-ol-Arab “A’need” is a person who disbelieves in the straight path and denies the truth intentionally. This results from vanity and arrogance. If we pay a little heed we will discern that moral turpitude is a great obstruction in the way of realizing the truth, for it denies justice and is one among the greater sins. (4)

1. The same meaning can be found in verses, 9 and 35 of Surah Jaasiya.
2. The same meaning can be found in verse 21 of Surah Luqman and verse 22 of Surah Ibrahim.
3. A similar meaning can be found in verses 6, 72, and 76 of Surah Ghafir; verses 40 and 41; 21 of Surah A’raf; verse 22 of Surah Naziat and verses 55 and 56 of Surah Saad.
4. a similar meaning is conveyed in verse 24 of Surah Qaf and verse 16 of Surah Mudaththir.
