IntroductionGates of paradise in Hadiths

The first verse speaks about the righteous entering Paradise in groups. It is said, “(when they) arrive; its gates will be opened and its keepers will say, “Come in peace! You have done well. Enter and live here forever.”

This tells us that the gates of Paradise will be opened when the righteous approach it.

It will be as if the Paradise will be waiting to invite them. The will not have to take the trouble of even opening the gates.

The second verse says the same thing in a different style. It says, “Gardens of Eternity whose doors will be forever open for them.”

The word “Mufatta” is derived from “Taf’eel” and denotes a vastness and remembrance. It may be mean that not only one door but all the gates will be opened fully and not just ajar. Will the gates open on the approach of the righteous in respect as if the are living or will they open on desire and a command and no body will be needed to open them?

Or is it that the keepers of Paradise will open the gates as a mark of respect in advance and welcome them at the gates as we do for our VIPs?

The first idea seems more appropriate. The idea is kept vague because of this. The idea of the keepers waiting at the gates is also more compatible with the verse.

The third and final verse speaks about the entrance of the angles from all the gates and this is after the dwellers of Paradise have entered. The verse says: “The angels shall usher them in with salutations from every gate. Peace upon you! You have persevered in patience.”

The angels will come through all the gates and say “Come in peace for being persevering and steadfast.”

Does it not mean that all the good deeds which actually are the gates of Paradise are all concentrated upon perseverance and steadfastness?
