Normally the entry to a house or a building is through a gate so the gates of Paradise are the entry points also. It is sometimes locked and can be opened by a special key only. The Arabs call it “Miftah” and the plural is “Mifatiih”
(They are also called “Maqleed” and “Maqaleed”.
The gates of paradise have another meaning. These are the sincere and favorable deeds that become the reason for entry into Paradise. The Qura’n has spoken briefly about the keys to Paradise. The hadiths however speak in details about the deeds that lead to the entry to the great fountain of mercy or Paradise. After this brief introduction we turn towards the Qura’n and study the various verses about this topic.
Verse 73 of Surah Zumar:
“(when they) arrive; its gates will be opened and its keepers will say, “Come in peace! You have done well. Enter and live here forever.”
Verse 50 of Surah Saad says:
“Gardens of Eternity whose doors will be forever open for them.”
Verses 23-24 of Surah Raad:
“The angels shall usher them in with salutations from every gate. Peace upon you! You have persevered in patience.”
