The will get whatever they desireEternal bounties of paradise

There are some des c r i p tions in the Qura’n which are more elaborate than all others and take us to an issue that is beyond the imagination of man. It is greater than what ever we have written or read.

Qura’n has (Briefly) described these bounties (explaining them is beyond our capacity). These are among the strange verses of the Qura’n.

In verse 17 of Surah Sajdah the book says;

“Now no one knows what visual delights are kept hidden (in reserve) for them.”

Then there is this famous hadith of the messenger in which he said:

“God says “I have kept such bounties for my righteous servants that no eyes have ever seen, no ears have heard about them and no mind has ever imagined them.” (1)

The notable point is that this has been said after giving glad tidings to the true believers. A Mumin is described as the one who gets up in the night to worship his Lord in solitude and the one who spends his wealth in the way of God. So we surmise that the “Night prayers” which are obligatory and the good deeds together with spending in the way of God are the best form of belief. The “Night Prayers” is a hidden worship and so is sincerely giving charity in the way of God. Therefore, God has kept the rewards for this hidden (but great).

The meaning of the term “Qur-ati-Ayoon” is “pleasing to the eyes” (2) because the Arabs believed that the tears that fall in happiness are cold and the tears that flow in pain are very warm. So when the Arabs wanted to say that some thing was full of happiness they would say “Qur-atil Aiyn” or “Qurat Aiyn”. But normally we say that the pleasure of the eyes is everything.

Some verses are so in-explainable that no matter how much we ponder we will not be able to have the perfect perception and it should be admitted as such. This verse too has great connotations and in-depth meanings and speaks about the spiritual and material bounties for those who are in Paradise. Even the Prophets and the angels do not perceive the reality about the hidden rewards that God has kept for His chosen servants who will be placed close to Him. Only He knows who has attained this glorious position.

1. This hadith has been quoted by many notable commentators like Tabrisi in Majmaul Bayan, Aloosi in Ruhul Ma’ani, Qartabi in his commentary, and Allama Tabatabai in Al Mizan. Bukhari and Muslim have also quoted this hadith.
2. The word “Qur” means pleasant, soothing and cold.
