The Fear of GodThe Importance of Prayers

The affection for the chosen ones of God and the abhorrence of His enemies or in other words compatibility with the pure and pious people and the distance from the evil people is one reason for going to Paradise. The Qura’n refers to this in verse 22 of Surah Mujadalah:

“ You will not find any people who believe in God and the Last Day being friendly with those who oppose Him and His Messenger, even though they were fathers, sons, brothers or kindred people.” The verse then adds:

“They are those in whose hearts God has written faith and strengthened them with a spirit bestowed by Him. He will enter them into the gardens underneath which the rivers flow.”

The verse speaks about God being pleased with them:

“God is pleased with them and they with Him. They are the party of God. Verily it is party that will be successful.”

It is understood that one heart cannot have love for two; it will be either love for God or the love for his enemies. This is why the love for one’s close people wanes if it is used to oppose the love for God. It is not just affection and attachment but this kind of love is found in the injustice of the oppressor and his entire program. The party of God will never do such a thing.

The des c r i p tion of “they are those in whose hearts God has written faith” is very profound and beautiful because that writing by God and on the heart means that the true faith encompasses their very existence.

It is these kinds of people who are supported by the Spirit have the capacity to be called “The Army of God” or the party of God for they are the complete symbols of both affection and abhorrence.
