VERSE NO. 142 Verses 144-145

After the incident of BADR, and the honourable martyrdom of some of faithfuls, Muslims held meetings to their memorial, and therein mentioned their names with high esteem and respect. In these meetings and discussions many a Muslim said that he wished he would be a martyr. As it is usual in such cases, some of them were not truthful in their assertions, because at the battle of Ohud they wavered, and run away leaving the prophet alone in the middle of the

crowds of enemy. All had escaped except the prophet and a few -very few, of hes companions! There was a fierce hand to hand struggle around the prophet. The prophet himself was fighting so bravely that Imam Ali(AS) has said: when the fight became exceedingly dreadful we sought refuge at the back of the prophet. Those who had remaind with the prophet Those who had remaind with the prophet were less than the fingers of a hand in number! there was Imam Ali(AS) rearest to him. ABUDALLANE wass shielding the prophet with his body against arrow shots. There was also a water carrier wome named NASSIBEH.

Had it not been for the firmness, courage, coolness and bravery of the prophet and the four or five man and one woman with him, everything would have been lost?: ``And you were desiring death in the way of Allah before you met it. Then you saw it and were watching it!'' You run away leaving the prophet with the enemy!
