Quran,Translation and Commentary in Brief (Vol. 03)
Verses 26-27Verses 28-30

The verses imply that man does not taste badness, if his deeds are good, and vice versa.

And that his internal feelings and emotional condition will appear in his face, be it of pleasure or anxiety.

The face of Man acts as a mirror that reflects all the pictures that are registered in his mind and heart.

The verses also point to the quality and quantity of the rewards given to the good doers and the righteous. The reward and result of good is good and that of bad is bad. The good doer will have goodness in reward and according to Q.sb:160 ten times more than his own good deed. Sometimes a good act may have a reward of more than that, and up to seven hundreds and more! It is cited in the QURÄNِS 2:261:ِ ``The parable of those who expend their wealth in the way of Allah; is the likeness of a grain of corn that sprouts seven ears, each ear bearing a hundred grains, and Allah makes that two-fold or manifold for whom He wills. Allah is Extender, Allِknowing.''

On the other hand, those who go wrong and do evils, will have evil for reward and the like of it, and also the same in scale and amountِno more no less.

In the justice of God, an evil deed will be requited with only one evil, equal and the same, but a good deed will have a reward of at least ten times more the like of itِand woe unto him whose tens are less than his ones!

As to the clause:ِ ``THEIR FACES ARE COVERED WITH PIECES OF A DARK NIGHT'', it is a metaphor through which night is the negation of the light of happiness and prosperity.
